Born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina, John has been interested in astronomy since childhood. As a child, early enamored with the story of the Star of Bethlehem, he was taken to see the Christmas program at the Morehead Planetarium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Upon reading The Birth of Christ Recalculated in 1980, he became convinced that Dr. Ernest Martin had solved the puzzle, both concerning the date of the star and the identity of the star.
In the years since, Rev. Crouch has presented the highlights of Dr. Martin's ideas in lectures in some dozen states across the country, while continuing to investigate ideas related to the identity of the star as well as the relationship between science and Scripture.
